Siddhi Vinayak temple

The Siddhi Vinayak temple also known as “Navsacha Ganapati” and “Navasala Pavanara Ganapati” is a temple in Prabhadevi, Mumbai, the capital of the western state of Maharashtra. The temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha (the elephant headed god; son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati). This is the most famous temple of Lord Ganesha in India.

Shree Siddhi Vinayak

The name Siddhi Vinayak means the “God who fulfills your wish when prayed humbly”. The temple was constructed on 19th November 2018 by Lakshman Vithu Patil and Deobai Patil. The present structure was renovated and expanded in the year 1994.

The main deity in the sanctum sanctorium is of Lord Ganesha or Ganpati. The doors of the sanctum sanctorium feature the “Ashtavinyaka” The eight manifestations of Lord Ganesha. The three eyed idol is made of black stone. It is 2.5 ft. in height and 2 ft. wide.

Architecture

The temple is 5 floored. The interior roof of the sanctum sanctorium is constructed of gold weighing above 1500 kgs and is 12 ft. high. The idol has its trunk on the right which is quite a rare. However most other idols of Ganesha generally have the trunk to the left. There is a Hanuman temple near the vicinity of the temple.

Darshan procedure

There are separate lines for the elders and mothers carrying infants. Wheelchairs are easily accessible for the elderly and disabled people. There are two kitchens and a library above the temple. During Ganesha Chaturthi (usually falls in the month of August- September), Modak (Ganesha’s favourite sweet is distributed everyday to the devotees).

Temple Timings:-

The temple remains open everyday from 05:30 a.m to 09:50 p.m except Tuesday when the temple is open from 03:15 a.m to 12:30 a.m.

How to visit the Siddhi Vinayak temple?


The temple is easily accessible by road. Online Darshan facility is also available nowadays. For NRI’s and foreigners a special booking is available.
There is no entry fees to visit the temple but the queue is generally long in the temple. The waiting time can be a hassle for many people as the temple records a number of about a few lakh devotees on some days.
There is a facility called the “paid darshan” available which can shorten your waiting time for Darshan from a few hours to 20-40 minutes. The paid darshan facility can be availed by paying a small amount of ₹50.
