Dev Dipawali is celebrated on the 11th day of the Kathik Shukla Paksha which is Karthik Purnima (full moon night). The Ghats and houses are decorated with Diyas (earthen lamps) to welcome the Devas. The celebration of this festival was first started at the Panchganga Ghat, Varanasi in 1985.
Ganga aarti is performed everyday in the evening at 7pm to 8pm. One should reach the Ghat at least 30mins in advance to get a seat anywhere on the stairs of the Ghat.
There are mainly two types of Hyderabadi Biriyani:- The Kachchi Biriyani and The Pakki Biriyani. There are various restaurants and food stalls offering this cuisine at affordable prices. Rice and goat meat/chicken are the main ingredients for the making of this dish. It is cooked by the dum pukht method (slow cooking of meat and vegetables in a sealed clay pot).
