Gwalior fort is also known as Gwalior ka Kila/Quila. This fort has a defensive architecture and there are many inscriptions in the fort. These inscriptions help us to understand a detailed information about the Fort and that time period.
The famous Tomar Rajput ruler Man Singh Tomar passed the ordinance to build this huge fort. It is so huge that it is visible from almost every corner of the town.
The Gwalior Fort is one of the main tourist attraction sites in Gwalior. Its architecture is the main reason for the attraction.
The fort consists of 2 Palaces namely; Man Mandir and Gujari Mahal. Both of these are in defensive structures. In the few records of the number Zero one of the 2nd oldest records is in a temple at Gwalior Fort. On a inscription in the temple at this fort demonstrates as a record for the number zero and the inscription is around 1500 years old.
2. Saas Bahu Temple
In the year 1093, King Mahipala of Kachchhapaghata Dynsaty instructed the construction of a temple. It was a Vishnu temple and not only one instead a twin temple. Locals call it Saas Bahu Temple.
Yes, like that Saas Bahu serial. Although unlike the discrepancy portrayed in the serial between the mother-in-Law and Daughter in Law, this temple shows the togetherness of this relationship. The interdependence of this relationship.
As always, do not expect that this temple will remain untouched from the invasions. Yet it survived anyhow and now is a great place of attraction and one of the best places to visit in Gwalior.
This temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu in his Padmanabha form. There are many other Hindu and Jain temples near this location and almost all of them are in ruins. But that has not impacted the attraction of these sites which is due to the importance.
The temple is full of carvings from every aspect of Hinduism. The carvings on the pillars show a great combination of Shaivism, Vaishnavism and Shaktism.
