1. Triveni Ghat
- Location – Rishikesh, Uttarakhand
- Timings – 5 a.m to 9 p.m all days of the week
Triveni Ghat is the biggest and most sacred Ghat of Rishikesh. It is said that Lord Krishna came here when he was shot by the arrow of a hunter, Jara. The last funeral rites of loved ones are performed here by devotees. The evening Ganga Aarti at Triveni Ghat adds to the holiness of the place.
2. Lakshman Jhula
- Timings – 5 a.m to 10 p.m
According to the legends, Lord Ram came here along with his brother Lakshman to repent for killing Ravana. In order to cross the river Ganges, Lakshman used two jute ropes which is how and where the present-day suspension bridge stands.
3. Trayambakeshwar Temple
- Timings = 6 a.m to 12 p.m and 2 p.m to 7 p.m all days of the week.
It is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. The name literally translates to “The abode of the three-eyed god”. The temple has 13 floors which are why it is known as the “Terah manzil temple”. It is a part of the Char Dham Yatra of Uttarakhand.
4. The Beatles Ashram
- Timings = 10 a.m to 4 p.m all days of the week.
Back in the February of 1968, the world-famous band “The Beatles” visited the Chaurasi Kutia/ The International Academy of Meditation, the ashram of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi to learn the transcendental meditation technique.
5. Rishi kund
- Timings – 24/7 every day.
It is a small pond inside the Raghunath temple but it has a lot of religious significance as it is believed that it used to be an ancient pond which was used by many saints and mystics and thus the water has got spiritual powers.
