A Divine Weekend Trip To Nashik
As I have completed my trip in 2 days, so will present this plan in the same way so that it remains more relevant to you. We will plan each day in parts, i.e., Morning, Noon and Evening.
Day 1 of Weekend Trip to Nashik: Exploring the Heart of the City
Early Morning: Heading Out to Nashik
I set off from Mumbai early in the morning for a weekend getaway to Nashik. After a scenic drive through the countryside, I arrived in this serene city, ready to explore its rich spiritual history. It was a 4-hour journey, and, as I reached Nashik I felt a strong, peaceful and lively atmosphere. I checked into my hotel, freshened up and began my journey into this spiritual city.
Afternoon: Exploring the Ramayana Legends
I started my journey with a deep dive into the Ramayana legends that Nashik holds close to its heart. According to Hindu mythology, this is where Lord Rama, his wife Sita and his brother Lakshmana spent time during their exile. The city is full of stories and places that are tied to these epic events.
My first stop was the sacred Panchavati area. I visited multiple sites and temples where it is believed that the incidents from Ramayana happened. From Kalaram Sansthan Temple to Sita Gufa and Shri Lakshmana Rekha Temple, all of these places held a strong energy which I cannot explain in words.
Nashik is known for its vineyards and while I didn’t have time to visit one, I did enjoy the scenic beauty of the rolling hills, which made me appreciate how this place blends nature and spirituality.
Late Afternoon: Kapila Godavari Sangam and Ganga Ghat
I visited the Kapila Godavari Sangam, where the Kapila River merges with the Godavari. This sacred confluence is believed to hold great spiritual significance, with people coming here to bathe and perform rituals. The serene surroundings and the sound of flowing waters created a tranquil atmosphere, making it a perfect spot to reflect on Nashik’s deep-rooted mythology and spirituality.
Evening: Exploring on foot
In the evening, I walked around and visited some temples including the Naroshankar temple, Lakshmi Narayan Temple, Kalpeshwar Mahadev temple etc. I also favoured some local cuisines like the Misal Pav, Medu Vada and Sugarcane juice.
Late Evening: Heading to my Hotel
I ended my day early and returned to my Hotel as I had to start early the next day. I went to the hotel, had dinner and rested well.
Day 2 of Weekend Trip to Nashik: Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga Temple
Early Morning: Heading to the Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga Temple
On the second day of my journey, I woke up early to visit the revered Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga Temple, one of India’s most sacred Shiva temples. If you’re passionate about uncovering more sacred sites, be sure to read our detailed guide on the 10 Most Revered Shiva Temples in Maharashtra for further inspiration. Located about 30 kilometres from Nashik, it is set at the foothills of the Trimbak Mountains, creating a stunning natural backdrop.
The temple is famous for housing the three forms of Lord Shiva, Vishnu, and Brahma in a single linga. The atmosphere here is incredibly serene and you can feel the divine energy as you approach the temple.
As I stood before the grand structure, I marvelled at the intricate architecture and the deep spiritual significance that it holds. The temple is considered one of the 12 Jyotirlingas and is an important pilgrimage site for Hindus, and visiting it was nothing short of awe-inspiring.
Inside the temple, the rituals and prayers create a magical ambience. I joined the crowds for the aarti, feeling the reverence and devotion that radiated through the temple. The experience was a reminder of the power of faith and the eternal connection between humans and the divine.
Godavari Kund
It is the source of the river Godavari which is revered as Dakshin Ganga or Vriddh(Old) Ganga. Taking a dip here is considered very sacred and a sin reliever. It is at a walkable distance from Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga and can be easily reached using Google Maps.
Late Morning: Anjaneri Temple – The Birthplace of Lord Hanuman
Since the Anjaneri Temple lies en route to Trimbakeshwar, I decided to take a small break and soak in the surrounding beauty before continuing on my journey. The temple is situated at the site believed to be the birthplace of Lord Hanuman. According to the legend, Anjana, Hanuman’s mother, meditated at this spot to invoke Lord Shiva’s blessings, leading to the birth of the mighty god.
The journey to the temple involves a moderate hike and as I ascended the hill, the views were nothing short of breathtaking. The lush greenery, the cool breeze, and the sense of peace around the temple made it an ideal spot for reflection. As I sat in front of the temple, I couldn’t help but feel connected to the ancient tales of devotion and strength, with Hanuman’s legacy as a symbol of courage and service.
Pro tip: Take an Uber to Nashik and add Anjaneri Temple as your first stop. To know why, check the price on Uber and ask any Autowala for the same.
Afternoon: Heading back to Mumbai
After an enriching two days exploring Nashik’s spiritual and historical treasures, it was time to head back to Mumbai. As I drove through the scenic roads, I reflected on the peaceful temples, the ancient Ramayana legends, and the divine energy of the city. The journey left me feeling spiritually rejuvenated and I couldn’t wait to return.
